for Turbulent Flow Bernard J. Geurts, Editor (University of Twente and University of London) |

OVERVIEW
Presents direct numerical simulation (DNS) and large-eddy simulation (LES) approaches, and explores the proper and acceptable balance between the reduction of information content in the smoothed representation on the one hand while retaining sufficiently accurate predictions in a given application area on the other hand. Chapters 1-9 focus mainly on subgrid modeling in a broad context and furnish connections with turbulence theory. Chapters 10-16 are dedicated to physical and numerical aspects arising from the application of direct- and large-eddy simulation in a number of different fields of interest.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
Industrial and academic researchers in fluid flow; suitable for use as a graduate text in turbulence simulation.
